I have been reading some articles & books on sikh history at the time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, both from sikh & non-sikh sources. It has come to me that there are some things that are either falsified or true in our history. For example, was Baba Deep Singh Ji's head actually decapitated & he was able to fight for long time while holding head on hand? Recently I've come across quite a few strange Sikh names online and later IRL at various social functions and get-togethers. At first I thought they were trolls (online on places like YouTube) but then a few months later I'd physically meet people with the same type of names, and they obviously aren't trolling anyone. Har5hit, Hardik, etc. The "Har" aspect is self explanatory and not uncommon, but what's the craic with "5hit" and "dik"? When did these kind of names come into use? Some of these people can also speak decent English, so that confuses me further. They must know their names are verging on dodgy.

So I saw naamdharis pop-up on my youtube on my TV, it was some programme in Canada with their current Guru and even their really famous top Raag Keertani was doing a speech. So I was just fast-backwarding through the video (I think because it was live on youtube you reverse instead of forward), and I saw them doing the ardaas. I was curious to listen to how they do the ardaas. Then I head the notorious patshahi 12 barvi mentioned at the start of the ardaas.
