I don't believe in caste, but my ancestors are Khatri.

I m not that knowledgeable on that. But I think good kirtaniyas hv been from different communities.

So, 'bhappe' are just khatris and aroras, or does that include any other group(s) ?

I don't think the aroras and many Khatri castes of today hv some warrior background.

Plus I don't hv info on all bhappa castes.

But I don't need caste to identify a bhappaa. His behaviour is enough for me.

Well, your demeanour suggests otherwise? If you truly believed that mantra, you'd leap to the defence of every caste that is discussed in less than flattering terms on this forum.

Jatts who live in urban areas aren't bhappa, nor have characteristics in common with them.

Not really, only those who make a decision to embrace the urban lifestyle will become 'bhappa-fied' over a few generations, those who still keep their links strong with their villages and visit and stay in the village over some periods will still retain the rural toughness. I remember my Mama used to live in Ludhiana but he made sure that his three sons still went to his village and stayed there on many occasions. They were tough and they used to beat the urban Hindu types black and blue. In the end my Mama had to marry them abroad because he feared that they would become involved with the Kharkoos. I remember they always kept hockey sticks in their car.

Khatris look like that because they have more Caucasian compared to NE euro (Scythian) and Jatts have more Scythian blood compared to Caucasian. Having more Caucasian is more characteristic of P*kistanis. It makes sense.
