its better there are less khatri sikhs. khatris are very weak in sikhi and i think if majority of sikhs were khatri we would all be assimilated in india by today. Although we find faults with jatts, they have always been at the forefront of sikhi and i cannot ignore that.

When i used to read about kharkus and the khalistan movement i was always surprised by the shraddha they had for sikhi and i never saw that type of spirit in the city sikhs. I guess its because most city sikhs are non jatts. Most of the shaheeds were jatts too i think.

its like this these days they are like this but not in the past all our Gurus came from this community we have to reignite that fire of Sikhi within them

I know but because of proximity to hindus and living amongst them, they dont like talking about khalistan or sant ji and follow very anti sikh practices. My own family talks about sant ji in negative light and i have straight up told them that you cant change my views no matter what and i will always support a pro sikh person even over them lol.

The only Khatri I know of who was in the movement was Surrinder Singh Sodhi, and even he was a rural type rather than urban type.

I’ll say something controversial, but if you practice Hindu ritual, marry with Hindus, pray to Hindu Devte, and live in majority Hindu regions while speaking their language at home, you’re not assimilated, you’re just a Hindu who wears a turban and has a beard. “Keshdhari Hindu”.

I think Khatri Sikhs feel the pressure of assimilation in ways the other Punjab centric castes don’t. If you look at the demographics even in Punjab they constitute 2% of the population, making them roughly 600,000. Add to this the roughly 400,000 (out of 550,000) from Delhi and maybe another 500,000 spread out over rest of India, they number 1.5 million. Very small percentage of the Panth as a whole. So already they feel like a minority within a minority. The Punjabi Hindu Khatris/Aroras are more numerous and have weaseled their way into elite strata of business, government, entertainment class using their Hindu identity, across India. Sikh khatris, especially the women, can see the writing on the wall. The Sikh Khatris have a path to dissolve back into mainstream, and they are silently engaged in it. Ridiculing them is only going to make the process faster. What we need to do is build inter-caste solidarity by way of marriage amongst those on an equal social footing. I feel it’s the only way of preventing the gradual loss of Khatri Sikhs with a large chunk of their children (I'm assuming women) marrying out.

 

If you look at India’s demographic statistics, Sikhs grew by only 8% between 1991-2011. The growth of Delhi Sikhs was only 2.7% for this period! For comparison, Hindus grew by 16% and Muslims 24 % in whole of India.

So either there is a massive exodus of Sikhs out of Delhi, fertility decline, marrying out, or all of the above.

I mean I don’t dress up as a Christian and pray at a church and there’s way more Christians than Sikhs where I’m from, let’s stop making excuses as to why a certain group of Sikhs are weak.

Soft, short, quite round. Fair or not?

Not an issue for women, but i don't think a Sikh male with strong genes would be happy for his potential offspring to take after his Khatri wife's genes.

I think they are 'soft' because they are not very physically active. The young ones are generally slim. The older ones are generally overweight.

Not sure it is a fully genetic thing but if you are a businessman or shopkeeper you're unlikely to have a naturally 'strong' physique/build. 

I think we need to encourage them all to do some martial arts training

Their degradation has been occurring over the last few decades. They are not the same people prior to 1947. The ones you get in Delhi and other cities of northern India are descendants of the Khatris who moved from Rawalpindi to India in 1947. The ones in Rawalpindi were industrialists as well as police officials and army contractors for the British army in their cantonments in the area. As such they held gun permits due to the link with the police and army and being landlord types they along with the Hindus pretty much controlled Rawalpindi. This was the reason that they were able to hold off the Muslim league attacks on them in March 1947 in Rawalpindi city. The ones in the rural areas were either small shopkeepers in Muslim majority villages or lived in their small villages surrounded by larger Muslim villages. The Muslim league gundas having been held off and worsted by the well armed Sikhs and Hindus in Rawalpindi, they moved to the Sikh villages are attacked them instead. This was where the Rawalpindi massacres occurred which became a war cry for the Sikh Jathas in east Punjab in August 1947. The villagers were hopelessly outnumbered and they did attempt to fight back. Many of their women committed suicide by jumping into wells or were killed by their menfolk to prevent them being raped by the Muslims.

When they migrated to India, the Sikh leadership did not have a strategy unlike the rural Sikhs from west Punjab  to settle them in east Punjab and they gradually shifted to Delhi and the rest of northern India. This prevented us from achieving a majority in the urban areas of Punjab as well as creating 'hostages' for India to threaten if Sikhs fought for their rights. Being a small minority they intermarried with the Hindus who were also from the same areas of west Punjab. Gradually they have been becoming more and more degraded.

It’s not genetics, the partition generation was tougher physically, spiritually, and mentally than the ones being born in Delhi. Also, let’s not forget how Sahibzade and Guru Sahib’s genetically are khatris along with men like Hari Singh Nalwa. 
 

The current generation is even weaker than the the ones who had to deal with 1984, (back then there were at least a few with a warrior spirit, but now there’s much less).
